Review of The Will of Wisteria by Denise Hildreth

Denise Hildreth had me hooked with her Savannah series. Flies on the Butter came next and I was impressed, a different type of story than the Savannah series, but equally as good.

I just finished reading The Will of Wisteria, the latest novel by Denise Hildreth. This is a story of four brothers and sisters that have recently lost their father. A very wealthy father. All four siblings are anxious for the reading of the will so they can finally get their hands on the money.

There’s one small problem. Shortly before his death, Mr. Wilcott decides to change his will and add a few requirements for his self centered children. They must meet the requirements or they will lose their inheritance.

I’m not saying anymore about the story, I don’t want to spoil for the reader one page of this beautifully written novel. There are sentences that are so powerful I read them over and over again. There are twists and turns of the heart and of circumstances that will have you crying and sometimes laughing.

I live a few minutes from Charleston, SC where the story is set and I work right in the heart of this historical city. Denise Hildreth has done her research well – she captured the atmosphere and attitude of our city perfectly. Most importantly, she shows the compassion and excellence of our hospital, Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC).

The Will of Wisteria is Denise Hildreth’s best book yet. There are many messages in this book, but they are never written – they just sort of dropped into my heart. Put The Will of Wisteria on your “must read” list – I know you’ll love it!
