ABOUT THE BOOK:Ambition is on a collision course with a secret from the past.Judge Laurel Kincade, a rising political star, is announcing her candidacy for chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court. Her aristocratic Old South family, led by her judge grandfather, beams as she takes the podium. Then her eyes light on a reporter in the crowd…and suddenly her past becomes a threat to her future.Journalist Cole McGaughan, religion reporter for the New York Daily Journal, has received an intriguing call from an old friend. Private investigator Matt Hogan has come across a tip…that Laurel's impeccable reputation might be a facade. Matt suggests that Cole dig up the dirt on the lovely judge in order to snag his dream job as one of the Journal's elite political reporters. There's just one problem: Cole's history is entangles with Laurel's and he must decide if the story that could make his career is worth the price he'd have to pay.A sensational scoop becomes a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Can Laurel and Cole find forgiveness and turn their hidden past into a hopeful future...while keeping their feelings off the record?

My Review: Laurel Kincade seems to be on top the world as she stands before the press to announce the kick-off of her campaign for chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court. A brilliant legal career, prestigious southern family, squeaky clean past…..?

Private investigator Matt Hogan is tracking Laurel and searching her past for any skeletons that might be hiding in her closet. He’s invited reporter Cole McGaughan to help him in the investigation. If they find something in Laurel’s past, it will be the story that launches Cole into his dream job of a political reporter.

There’s one big problem. Cole has skeletons of his own that could destroy Laurel’s hope of becoming Alabama’s first female chief justice. Will he choose the story of his career or put someone else’s best interest before his own desire to succeed?

I fell in love with this story. Cole is the guy that is easy to fall for. Handsome, not-so-perfect, but very persistent. It’s his persistence throughout the book that really spoke to my heart. It reminded me of the greatness of God’s love for us, no matter where we are or what we’ve done. God loves us and wants us to love Him back. He desires authenticity – skeletons and all.
